Local body shop seeking donations following accident

MIDLAND, TX (KWES) - Pepe's Body Shop has given so much to the community.

Around the Christmas holiday, Pepe's Body Shop bought gifts for the less fortunate.

Last year, they gave away a car to a janitor who had no transportation.

Most recently, they held a car wash for injured Midland Police Officer, Xavier Ramon, which raised over $2,000.

But now, the business needs your help. Owner's Jose and Maria Lopez need the communities help.

Maria Lopez, an owner at Pepe's Body Shop, said, "the shop was struck by a car last year causing damage to a crucial part of their business."

Now, they are raising money to have a new paint booth built.

The owners were told they could continue to do body work at the shop but couldn't paint vehicles there.

They said they are losing $3,000 or more on each vehicle, not painted at the shop and this is their livelihood.

The fire marshal said, "they can sand but cannot paint due to flammables."

Pepe's Body Shop needs $10,000 dollars to achieve their goal of having a new paint booth.

A GoFundMe page was set up.

They will also be holding a car wash this Saturday, May 14 from 11 a.m. until the last car leaves.

Hot dogs and drinks will be sold as well.

If you can't make the car wash, you can call Pepe's Body Shop at (432) 222-8206 to donate.

Despite their time of need, the owners said they will continue to help others as best as they can.
