JEFF DAVIS COUNTY, TX (KWES) - A weekend wildfire, fueled by wind and dry vegetation, is under control.
On Sunday morning, the Texas A&M Forest Service, responded to a request for assistance on the Willow Springs Fire that sparked on Saturday night.
According to a release, due to the increased fire potential, crews were pre-positioned to Fort Davis.
Jeff Meiner, Texas A&M Forest Service assistant chief regional fire coordinator, said, "I believe our rapid response and initial containment efforts helped tremendously in containing the fire and gave the volunteers extra support."
The crew consisted of a seven-member team, two UTV's and a type 6 engine.
The crew worked in conjunction with fire departments from Brewster and Jeff Davis counties and local ranchers.
