Woman arrested in connection to aggravated assault in Odessa

ODESSA, TX (KWES) - A woman was arrested after allegedly hitting her boyfriend and threatening him with a knife.

Odessa police were called out to the 4600 block of Oakwood for a disturbance.

When officers arrived, they could hear a woman yelling and cursing.

Officers spoke to a 26-year-old man and his girlfriend, Arnita Hardaway, 20.

After further investigation, it was revealed that after an argument, Hardaway grabbed her boyfriend and struck him in the face and body.

Authorities say Hardaway then grabbed a knife and threatened to cut her boyfriend's throat and kill him.

A witness confirmed to officers that they saw Hardaway chasing the man, while threatening him with the knife.

The same witness also said they could hear two children screaming and crying from the top of a staircase in front of an apartment.

Police say the witness ran up the stairs and grabbed the children, one 3-year-old girl and an 8-month-old girl, so they would not fall down the stairs.

Officers saw injuries to the man's face, shoulders, forearms, left bicep and right wrist.  They also found a steak knife in a dumpster.

CPS Was notified about the incident and paramedics treated the man's injuries.

Hardaway was arrested for aggravated assault with a deadly weapon (family violence), two counts of abandoning/endangering a child, and assault causing bodily injury.
