ODESSA, TX (KWES) - Authorities made a big discovery on Tuesday evening in Ector County.
The traffic stop was made around 9:30 p.m. at the intersection of 42nd Street and JBS Parkway.
According to the report, a Ford F-150 was stopped on a traffic violation.
That when, deputies said, a consensual search was requested and granted and a false compartment containing five and half pounds of methamphetamine was found.
The driver of the pickup truck, Luis Cornejo-Macias, 24, and a passenger in the vehicle, Tania Hernandez, 21, were arrested by the Drug Enforcement Agency in Midland due to the large quantity.
Authorities said the estimated street value of the drugs is $550,000.
