HOBBS, NM (KWES) - The Lea County Drug Task Force has made an arrest in connection to an investigation into distribution of marijuana that began back in January.
On January 26 agents executed a search warrant for a house in the 1300 block of East Humble Street in Hobbs.
The search yielded over three pounds of marijuana.
Agents spoke to a resident, Daniel Najera, 57, who admitted to buying 3 to 4 pounds of marijuana at a time and distributing it within Hobbs.
In all, agents found approximately 1,908 grams of marijuana and a firearm. The street value of the marijuana is about $19,080.
Then on April 26, agents were able to get another search warrant for the same house.
Najera again admitted to having marijuana in the house.
During this search, agents found approximately 5 ounces of marijuana, with a street value of about $1400.
As a result of this investigation, Najera was arrested and is facing two counts of distribution of a controlled substance (marijuana) (2nd offense), both of which are third degree felonies in New Mexico.
