CULBERSON COUNTY, TX (KWES) -

Presidio ISD Superintendent, Dennis McEntire, confirms former teacher's aide, Karla Garcia, has turned in her letter of resignation after being charged with DWI and possession of a controlled substance.

State Troopers pulled over Garcia, 31, just outside of Van Horn.

They say she had alcohol on her breath and admitted to having booze.

Troopers searched her car and found what they believe is cocaine.

They're waiting on tests for that and her test for how much alcohol was in her blood.

She's charged with DWI and having a controlled substance.

Garcia is an elementary teacher in Presidio.

She's since bailed out of jail.

McEntire says this is an "unfortunate incident" and Garcia resigned on her own without any pressure from the district.
