Jury deliberations underway for former Permian High School teacher

ODESSA, TX (KWES) - Jury deliberations are underway for a former teacher at Permian High School.

Jurors are deciding on a sentence for Jay Dee Burns, 45.

Burns pled guilty Monday to nine counts including four counts of an improper student-teacher relationship, three counts of sexual assault of a minor, one count of indecency with a child and one count of stalking.

According to the arrest affidavit, Burns was using the adult website "Fetlife" when he met an 18-year-old Permian High School student. He then began a sexual relationship with her that included many inappropriate acts.

Then after the 18-year-old student came forward, a 16-year old Permian High Student also met Burns on the same website and had accused him of similar accusations.
