MIDLAND, TX (KWES) - A Midland police officer is back at home.
Officer Xavier Ramon was released from the hospital on Monday.
Early Saturday morning, Ramon's patrol car was hit by a drunk driver in a truck.
The impact of the crash sent the car off the road, into a nearby house, before finally catching fire.
Residents in the area helped put the flames out.
Ramon ended up with a broken jaw and shoulder blade and several stitches.
Police say the man that ran into him, Jose Garcia, 31, blew through a stop sign when he hit the officer.
Garcia tried to flee the scene but was taken into custody.
He is charged with intoxication assault on a peace officer.
