MIDLAND COUNTY, TX (KWES) -

UPDATE: A fire at a Midland County business has been contained.

The fire sparked up just after 1:30 p.m. Thursday at C&J Energy, near the intersection of North County Road 1294 and West County Road 35.

Authorities said that employees of C&J Energy Services were working on some equipment when a fire started on an oilfield tank truck and spread to nearby equipment.

Luckily, all the employees were able to get away from the fire without any injuries.

As a result of the fire, West County Road 35 has been closed to traffic at this time. 

Fire officials also said that the explosion that was reported was believed to be related to the tires on the trailers blowing out.

Several fire departments including Gardendale Volunteer Fire Department, Northeast Midland County Volunteer Fire Department, Midland Fire Department and Odessa Fire Department responded to the scene.

The cause of the fire is under investigation.

A Thursday afternoon fire at C&J Energy, near the intersection of North County Road 1294 and West County Road 35 in Midland County has been upgraded to an explosion.

WCR 35 is blocked off by Midland sheriff's vehicles.

Midland Public Information Officer Sara Bustilloz said that the call originally came in around 1:30 p.m. as a grass fire, but has now been upgraded to an explosion.

Bustilloz said that they can't confirm exactly what exploded, and that as of right now there are no reports of injuries.

According to workers, they heard 3 booms within 20 seconds and saw 6 or 7 explosions over the course of 10 minutes.
