ODESSA, TX (KWES) - More than 60 citations were issued in Odessa and most of them came from accident prone areas.
The citations were issued as part of "Red for a Reason."
The Odessa Police Department, along with a few officers from the University of Texas of the Permian Basin, completed the special assignment.
It all happened on Friday and lasted about three hours.
The two intersections in the assignment were 42nd Street and JBS Parkway and 42nd Street and Preston Smith Road.
We're told 25 citations were written for red light violations at the parkway intersection and 12 citations were issued also for red light violations at the Preston Smith Road intersection.
Officers also assisted Union Pacific Railroad police with a railroad crossing assignment on Monday.
Officers issued a total of 28 citations Monday and 18 of those were railroad crossing violations.
65 citations were issued during the "Red For a Reason."
