BIG SPRING, TX (KWES) - A Big Spring Police detective was arrested on Wednesday on charges involving three females and alleged sex crimes.
According to a release from the Big Spring Police Department, Detective Joel Rojo was charged with three counts of official oppression, one count of indecency with a child and one count of sexual performance by a child.
Police said back on August 20, 2015, an individual reported possible misconduct by Rojo.
The report stated that a preliminary investigation was immediately conducted and Rojo was placed on paid leave the following day.
Police added that the investigation was turned over to the Texas Rangers.
Then about two months later, a second allegation of misconduct was reported to police.
While investigating the second allegation the assigned lieutenant located another victim of possible misconduct by Rojo.
In the report Big Spring Police Department said all of the the allegations informed Rojo to have coerced and induced the three females during different times and locations into compromising situations.
According to the report, all of the allegations involved Rojo coerced three females at different times and two of the females were juveniles.
No other details about the cases have been released.
NewsWest 9 reached out to DPS and the city of Big Spring but neither were available for comment.
