Midland fugitive accused of assaulting, choking girlfriend

ODESSA, TX (KWES) -

A Midland fugitive is behind bars following a domestic disturbance call in Odessa on Friday afternoon.

Odessa police were called out to the 200 block of West 17th St. in reference to a domestic disturbance.

According to the report, an investigation revealed that after an argument between a 24-year-old female and her boyfriend, Jerry Caperton, 24, began to attack his girlfriend.

Police said Caperton grabbed his girlfriend by the throat and held her down, impeding her breath.

An investigation also noted that Caperton had three outstanding warrants, including two out of Midland County.

Caperton was arrested and charged with assault by strangulation (family violence), unlawfully carrying of a weapon, possession of marijuana and for another misdemeanor warrant.
