Dust devil spotted on Mars by exploration rover

(NASA/CNN) - NASA's Mars exploration rover Opportunity caught a unique weather picture on Mars.

An image the space agency provided shows what NASA calls a Martian dust devil.

You can see it twisting through the valley.

Dust devils on Mars are created like those on Earth.

A column of hot air begins to rise and rotate, picking up tiny.

Grains of dust from the ground, making the spinning vortex visible.
