MIDLAND- The Texas Red Raiders got a better feel for there team after Saturday's Spring Scrimmage at Grande Communications stadium.
"It's good to see who reacts in front of a crowd and who plays well and who gets nervous and has penalties and missed assignments, things of that nature," Texas Tech Head Coach Kliff Kingsburry said. "So it was a great crowd. Every year we come, it exceeds our expectations and incredible energy and it's a real honor for us to come down here every year."
Quarterback Patrick Mahomes, who was in a quarterback battle a year ago with Davis Webb, entered this game as the unquestioned starter.
"I mean we got out here, did a lot of good things," Mahomes said."We executed efficiently, and we tried to keep our penalties down and we had a lot of false starts, but other than that, not a lot of holdings, stuff like that."
Texas Tech will look to improves on their Texas Bowl loss to LSU when the 2016 regular season kicks off.
