ODESSA, TX (KWES) - One suspect is dead and another is still on the run after an officer involved shooting at the Quality Inn in Odessa.

It happened around 9:00 p.m. on Friday.

Officers went to a room to make contact with a possible wanted person.

They made contact with a man inside the room the suspect was in.

The man got into a fist fight with police offers.

At some point, police said the suspect grabbed a gun and pointed it at the officers.

That's when the officers shot and killed the suspect.

That suspect is identified as Joel Fabela, 37.

A second person, identified as Jody Threadgill is who Odessa Police were serving a warrant to.

Threadgill fled the scene, and is still on the run.

He was previously arrested back in January at the nearby Motel One on Highway 80 for drug possession.

Police say no officers were hurt during the incident.

Because it is an officer-involved shooting, the Texas Rangers are leading the investigation.
