PECOS, TX (KWES) - An explosion and tank battery fire on US 285 near Pecos is causing traffic to be diverted.
It's all because there is poor visibility from the smoke in the area.
The Texas Department of Transportation says southbound 285 traffic is being rerouted to FM 1450, then to FM 1776 and back to US 285.
Northbound traffic is being rerouted to FM 1776, then to FM 1450 and back to US 285.
It's unclear how long these detours will remain in effect.
