Suspect in Midland strangulation case had previous run-ins with law

Police arrested and charged Benjamin Moore with aggravated assault. They say he strangled his wife and left her hanging a closet. Records show Moore has had run-ins with the law dating back to the early 2000's on charges of pot possession to sexual assault.

MIDLAND, TX (KWES) - Police arrested and charged Benjamin Moore with aggravated assault. They say he strangled his wife and left her hanging a closet. Records show Moore has had run-ins with the law dating back to the early 2000's on charges of pot possession to sexual assault. The Texas Department of Public Safety issued a high risk warning against him.

A next door neighbor to Moore said, ""Maybe a week after they moved here we all got a little slip that said to be on the lookout for him because they said he was a predator."

She described Moore as reserved after learning about the safety measures taken against him.

"If you made eye contact with him he'd look away really quick," said the neighbor.

The neighbor said she lived next door to Moore and his wife Natasha and the fights would get pretty loud. Officials say depending on the health of the victim the charges against Moore could change.

Public Information Officer for the City of Midland, Sara Bustilloz said, "We hope that she does pull through. If she doesn't he could be facing a murder charge."

"We all kind of don't expect that from anybody who lives here," said the neighbor.

Moore is currently being detained at Midland County Jail and his bond has been set at $150,000.
