JEFF DAVIS COUNTY, TX (KWES) -

Area firefighters have contained a grass fire that reignited on Friday morning.

The fire sparked Thursday afternoon located four miles north of Ft. Davis, off of Highway 17.

The Fort Davis Fire Department said the Water Wheel Canyon fire has burned over 300 acres of extremely rough, canyon terrain.

The location of the fire was so remote that firefighters couldn't use their fire engines and the fire was fought by hand.

The fire will be monitored throughout the night and into Saturday.
