MIDLAND, TX (KWES) - A Midland jury sentenced a man to 99 years in prison for stabbing his ex-girlfriend with a screwdriver on Wednesday,
According to the Midland District Attorney, Issac Casias was convicted of burglary of a habitation and aggravated assault with a deadly weapon.
Last year, Casias attempted to get back together with his ex-girlfriend. She refused, then Casias asked her if she was ready to die. She told him to leave the residence.
Minutes later, he broke through a window and began stabbing her with a screwdriver.
Casias then led officers on a car chase that ended when he circled back to the residence and crashed into the victim's vehicle, injuring a Midland police officer in the process.
During the course of the trial, it was revealed that Casias had been convicted of three prior violent felony offenses.
