Odessa City Council appoints new District 1 representative

ODESSA, TX (KWES) -

On Tuesday night members of the Odessa City Council unanimously appointed Ayme McNeil the new representative of District 1.

Dewey Bryant, District 2 representative said "I think she's a very qualified applicant. We are excited to have her serve."

Ayme McNeil, new District 1 representative said "I am blessed and honored to be able to take this position and finish the projects my husband started."

McNeil said she will talk to her husband about the projects he was working on.

"He wanted to see more businesses on the south side of Odessa," said McNeil.

After sitting in on meetings, McNeil is aware of the issues District 1 faces which includes a proposed $77 million dollar project in their back yard.

"I am very concerned about District 1," said McNeil.

McNeil added, she will listen to the needs of District 1.

"Talk to your neighbors so we can know what's going on. I'm willing to walk the streets with you and do whatever it is I can to help to make our district the best district in Odessa," said McNeil.

McNeil's first day on the job will be at the next meeting. Her term runs until November.
