High fire danger in West Texas and Southeast New Mexico

High fire danger in West Texas and Southeast New Mexico

Fire danger is on the rise for Tuesday due to dry, warm, and windy weather. A Red Flag Warning is in place for much of our area meaning fires can easily start and spread.

Relative humidity of less than fifteen percent is expected this afternoon along with near record-breaking warm temperatures. High winds are also in the forecast today. A Wind Advisory is in place for West Texas for wind gusts near forty miles per hour. Add in our dry vegetation and conditions are ideal for the quick spread of fires.

Avoid any outdoor burning or any activities that may produce sparks. High fire danger is expected to continue through Wednesday.
