ODESSA, TX (KWES) -

A man and woman were taken into custody after a citizen’s arrest, in connection to a robbery at the Washateria in Odessa.

Odessa police were called out around 9:30 p.m. Sunday night to the Washateria, a self-service laundry establishment, in the 1000 block of East University Boulevard for a theft in progress. Officers were notified that the suspect, Michael Ducote, 35, was being held on the ground by a citizen.

According to authorities, Ducote walked into the Washateria, used a key to take coins from the washing machines and then placed them into a bag.

Ducote was then seen walking outside to get into a getaway vehicle driven by Brooke Houston, 32.

When confronted by the person who called police, Ducote pushed and punched the individual while attempting to flee in the vehicle.

Houston was unable to drive away when other citizens took her car keys away from her.

Further investigation revealed that Ducote had taken approximately $120 worth of quarters.

Ducote and Houston were both arrested for robbery.
