Shots fired in Odessa, two subjects in custody

Odessa Police arrested two after shots were fired near an Odessa Police vehicle. Shortly after 7 p.m. Tuesday night, an Odessa police officer parked near the intersection of 10th Street and Whitaker Avenue heard several gunshots come from a car heading east on 10th.

ODESSA, TX (KWES) - Odessa Police arrested two after shots were fired near an Odessa Police vehicle.

Shortly after 7 p.m. Tuesday night, an Odessa police officer parked near the intersection of 10th Street and Whitaker Avenue heard several gunshots come from a car heading east on 10th.

Authorities say when officers pulled the vehicle over, Noe Ramirez, 21, threw a 9 mm handgun out of the passenger side window.  He then ran out of the vehicle after being told by officers to stay.

Officers found Noe Ramirez hiding in a shed in the backyard of a residence.

A pair of brass knuckles and empty 9mm shell casings were found after a search of the car by police.

The driver, Reymundo Ramirez, 19, admitted to Odessa police that he fired shots into the air.

Noe Ramirez was arrested for unlawful possession of a firearm by a felon, tampering with physical evidence and evading arrest or detention.

Reymundo Ramirez was arrested for a prohibited weapon, unlawful carrying of a weapon and 7 outstanding misdemeanor warrants.  He also received citations for discharging a firearm in city limits, no proof of insurance and open container.
