ALBUQUERQUE, NM (KWES) -

New Mexico State Police are investigating what led to the escape of two inmates last week.

Currently all New Mexico prisons are on lockdown and no prisoners are being transported.

Joseph Cruz and Lionel Clah escaped from a transport van last week while stopped at an Artesia gas station.

The two were taken back into custody over the weekend in Albuquerque.

All inmates in the state are being interviewed in a broad, in-depth review of the state's prison system.

Cruz was convicted of first-degree murder, and Clah is serving time for armed robbery and other crimes.
