ODESSA, TX (KWES) - The name of the man who died after a standoff with Odessa police has been released.
DPS said that Jason Meador, 50, was shot by law enforcement officers Thursday afternoon.
Sergeant Elizabeth Carter with the Texas Department of Public Safety in El Paso said that officers responded to the 1200 block of Douglas Avenue after a 911 call.
Odessa Police officers attempted to negotiate with Meador after he threatened to harm himself.
Meador was then shot by officers after he displayed a handgun in the direction of the police.
He was taken to the hospital where he was pronounced dead.
