Midland Police warn residents about increasing car thefts

MIDLAND, TX (KWES) - Midland Police said this is a small pattern of vehicle burglaries on the northwest side of town.

In each of these four cases Midland Police said the targeted vehicles were left unlocked.

The four most recent burglaries happened on the 4500 block of Patman Place, 4800 block of Briarwood Avenue, 4900 block of Brazos Avenue and 5200 block of Canadian Avenue.

Midland Police said suspects are making off with wallets, a variety of other items and in half of these cases the thieves have made off with guns.

Midland Police said this is another pattern following a recent string of car burglaries and thefts. In February six teenagers were arrested for terrorizing both Midland and Odessa. Both police departments said they believed the string of burglaries were connected, they were working together and expected more arrests to be made.

Midland Police said these burglaries are happening between 11 p.m. and 6 a.m. In all of these cases police found doors were unlocked. Midland Police said the best way to stay safe is by locking your cars and taking any valuables with you.
