ODESSA, TX (KWES) - Two fugitives in possession of a stolen gun were arrested early Sunday morning after trying to evade arrest.
The Ector County Sheriff's Office said a truck was seen driving at a high rate of speed south on Andrews Highway, just after midnight.
Authorities say when they attempted to pull the truck over, the driver drove the truck off of a curb and fishtailed.
After driving a short distance, the Sheriff's office said the driver lost control and struck a curb which caused a tire to rip apart.
When deputies approached the vehicle, they saw a handgun lying on the ground, near the passenger side of the vehicle. The gun was later found to have been reported stolen to the Odessa Police Department.
The driver was identified as Jackie Trammell, 38, and the passenger as Edward Chappell II, 49.
Trammell was charged with evading arrest.
Further investigation revealed that Chappell had a warrant for theft/bond forfeiture in Midland and Trammell had a suspended driver's license.
Both men were later arrested.
