MIDLAND, TX (KWES) - The "Move Over/Slow Down" law was expanded about three years ago to include the Texas Department of Transportation workers.
This video from the Midland Police Department's Facebook page showed officers in action on Friday.
The law was first implemented to require drivers to yield to police, fire and emergency vehicles.
Now, drivers also have to move out of the lane closest to the TXDOT vehicle with overhead flashing blue or amber lights.
If that's not possible, drivers have to reduce their speed to 20 miles an hour below the posted speed limit.
Same rules apply for police, fire and emergency vehicles.
People caught breaking the move over law could face a fine of up to $2,000.
