There is a potential for strong to severe storms Monday evening. The Storm Prediction Center has our eastern counties under a "Marginal Risk." This means that a few storms that develop can be severe.
The area that is likely to experience the stronger storms is the Trans Pecos along the Pecos River around mid-afternoon into the evening hours. Hail and strong wind gusts will be the biggest threats. High winds will affect the Davis/Apache and the Guadalupe Mountains with gusts close to seventy miles per hour.
The severe weather threat will dwindle after nine tonight.
Rain will linger through the night in West Texas. Temperatures for Tuesday are expected to be about ten degrees cooler than Monday.
