Illegal license plate lights leads to methamphetamine arrest

A traffic stop for an unusual reason ended with police seizing almost 50 grams of methamphetamine on Monday.

ODESSA, TX (KWES) - A traffic stop for an unusual reason ended with police seizing almost 50 grams of methamphetamine on Monday.

Odessa police stopped a car for a blue license plate light, but discovered that the Jose Davila-Hermosillo, 34, was a fugitive in possession of 47 grams of methamphetamine.

After pulling over Jose Davila-Hermosillo, the officers noticed a white powder on his lap.

According to police, a search of his vehicle revealed two bags of methamphetamine, a black digital scale, a teaspoon, scissors, several individual baggies, as well as $2,695 in cash.

Odessa police say an investigation revealed that Davila-Hermosillo had six outstanding misdemeanor warrants.

Davila-Hermosillo was arrested and taken to the Ector County Law Enforcement Center.
