Fire weather concerns grow for southeast New Mexico and the Guadalupe Mountains on Thursday.
A fire weather watch has been issued due to warm, dry, and windy weather expected on Thursday. Temperatures will warm above the average for this time of year. Winds of twenty-five to thirty-five miles per hour with gusts of forty to fifty miles per hour and relative humidity will drop below fifteen percent. These conditions make it ideal for grass fires to spark and spread quickly.
Outdoor burning or any activities that cause sparks should be avoided.
