ODESSA, TX (KWES) - One man is behind bars after trying to run from Odessa police early Friday morning.
Police arrested Alberto Leyva, 21, and charged him with evading arrests or detention in a motor vehicle, reckless driving and driving while intoxicated.
Odessa police said officers saw a white Cadillac Escalade traveling at a high rate of speed and driving recklessly in the 1000 block of North Grant.
According to the report, police tried to conduct a traffic stop on the vehicle but Leyva continued driving at a high rate of speed.
Authorities were able to locate Levya in the 200 block of East 12th Street.
As officers were speaking with Leyva, they could smell a strong odor of an alcoholic beverage coming from his breath.
Leyva was later taken into custody for driving while intoxicated after failing field sobriety tests.
