ECTOR COUNTY, TX (KWES) - We've learned how a day old baby died in Gardendale back in April.
Autopsy results show the little boy died from lack of care and his mom's drug abuse.
On Wednesday, the Ector County Sheriff's Office arrested her.
It turns out, she's pregnant again.
Deputies say the reason it took so long to arrest her was because they were waiting on DNA results to make sure it was her son.
Investigators say Jessica Vasquez, 30, had the baby at her home on Poppy Street in Gardendale in April.
He died the next day.
Deputies say the mom admitted to smoking pot during the pregnancy and not getting prenatal care.
Authorities got permission to search the home and say they found drug residue and drug paraphernalia.
Lab results show the residue tested positive for methamphetamine.
Investigators say Vasquez had registered at Lea Regional Medical Center Hospital in Hobbs, New Mexico, two days before having the baby.
They say she had had tested positive for amphetamines and THC, the active ingredient in pot.
Autopsy results show the little boy died from his mom's methamphetamine abuse, pneumonia, no prenatal care and the home birth.
