99 pounds of synthetic marijuana, $172,000 cash found in bust

ODESSA, TX (KWES) -

Stacks and stacks of cash, along with boxes of synthetic marijuana. Police uncovered all of that at an Odessa man's home. They say he stored it there, but dealt the drugs out of his business, Big Tex Outer Limits. 28 year old Ruben Hernandez was caught with 99 pounds of synthetic marijuana and $172,000 in cash, as well as some firearms. Odessa Police explained why they're working to get synthetic marijuana off the streets.

"We do know that there's much more of this out there and it is a big deal because a lot of times the effects can be worse than regular marijuana and they can be fatal. We respond to calls on a nightly basis involving people that are delusional and that do crazy things," said Steve LeSueur with the Odessa Police Department.

Hernandez was arrested Thursday night and is now facing felony charges. It's unclear if anyone else is wanted in connection to this bust, but the investigation is still underway.

More than half of the 17 people killed when a tourist boat sank on a Branson lake were members of the same Indiana family, and they likely wouldn't have been on the ill-fated trip but for a ticket mix-up.
