MIDLAND, TX (KWES) - More than 1,000 locals have a signed a petition in an effort to bring Uber back to Midland.
The petition was created just over 24 hours ago and already has more than 1,100 signatures.
Uber announced earlier this week that they will no longer operate in Midland.
They say that's because of the city's regulations but the city says they've done everything to make Uber happy and were surprised to hear about Uber's decision to leave Midland.
The creator of the petition to bring Uber back says she hopes having so many signatures will get Uber to re-think their decision.
"I think that there needs to be another round of negotiations for sure and there should, I think, be more citizens aware. Like no one was aware that this was even happening before Uber came out and said that they were leaving. I think the citizens need to be more involved but also Uber needs to be a little more lenient as well," said Sequoyah Coats, who created the petition.
The city says they only knew of one regulation that Uber wasn't happy with and they revised that in an effort to work with Uber.
Again, it was Uber's decision to stop operating in Midland.
