Alpine man found guilty of murdering coach

BREWSTER COUNTY, TX (KWES) - A jury has convicted an Alpine man for murdering a former coach.

Keith McWilliams will be sentenced on Tuesday.

The Brewster County Sheriff's Office says he shot and killed former Kilgore football coach, Trey Sands, back in October 2014.

Keith McWilliams was later arrested and lead deputies to the body.

The sheriff's office says he confessed to the crime and led them to the body.

Investigators found sands in a makeshift grave at Terlingua ranch.

Two other people were arrested in connection to his murder, Rhonda Bloom of Terlingua and Charles Morrow.

Deputies say they helped bury the body.

The sheriff's office says Sands was staying with a friend when he apparently had a confrontation with the suspects.
