ANGELINA COUNTY, TX (KTRE) -

A representative of the Health and Human Services Commission’s Office of the Inspector General arrested a 57-year-old Lufkin State Supported Living Center employee in connection to allegations that she assaulted a mentally disabled 15-year-old girl.

Lynette Bass Williams, of Nacogdoches, was booked into the Angelina County Jail on Jan. 29 on two second-degree felony injury to the disabled charges and a misdemeanor theft of property between $20 and $500 by check charge. She was released later that day after she posted a collective bail amount of $11,500.

According to the arrest affidavit, the alleged incident occurred at the Lufkin State Supported Living Center on Jan. 8. Williams was employed as a “direct support professional.” A video monitor allegedly saw Williams assault a 15-year-old mentally disabled female resident of the center.

A law enforcement officer from the Health and Human Services Commission’s Office of the Inspector General was assigned the case on Jan. 11. After the officer obtained a copy of the surveillance video, he saw Williams grab the mentally disabled girl by the head, force her to the floor, and repeatedly struck her head on the floor, the affidavit stated.

In addition, Williams also allegedly struck the girl in the face with an open hand and kicked her in the side of the head. According to the affidavit, the mentally disabled girl suffered scratches on her right upper lip, mouth area, and left bicep.
