Two Andrews Police officers return to duty following shooting

ANDREWS, TX (KWES) -

Two officers with the Andrews Police Department and Andrews County Sheriff's Office are back at work after being cleared for their involvement in a shooting.

The officers had been placed on paid administrative leave with pay after the shooting that happened on January 16 when they were called to investigate an aggravated robbery and kidnapping on NE 1st Street.

When they arrived on the scene, the three suspects shot at them and the officers returned fire.

Texas Rangers were called in to investigate and they determined the officers were in their right to discharge their weapons.

The three suspects, Nathan Villarreal, Zacharia Brumley and Duane Larue were arrested and charged with aggravated assault and kidnapping among other charges.
