MIDLAND, TX (KWES) - The new "Baylor Bound" agreement allows students at Midland College the opportunity to transfer to Baylor University after completing their degree. The deal between the two schools didn't take long to get off the ground.
Dean of Community Relations at Midland College, Rebecca Bell, said, "Baylor contacted us in mid-October wanting to get this transfer agreement going. We said we love to because it benefits our students and it all came to fruition yesterday."
Students in the program will have to maintain a 3.0 GPA and the degree has to satisfy both school. The staff at Midland College see this as an opportunity for students to further their education.
"It just gives students in West Texas more options for education," said Bell.
For students, this agreement gives them an avenue to finish their degree that wasn't there before.
Midland College, Class of '16, Glyndia Charles, said, "I'm actually excited about it. I do plan on actually transferring those credits over to Baylor to continue on with my Psychology degree. This is what many students have been looking forward to."
Students can start enrolling in the "Baylor Bound" program this upcoming fall.
