137 pounds of marijuana seized at Presidio port

U.S. Customs and Border Protection Office of Field Operations officers made a big drug bust over the weekend.

PRESIDIO, TX (KWES) - U.S. Customs and Border Protection Office of Field Operations officers made a big drug bust over the weekend.

Authorities say the drugs were found late Saturday evening in the fuel tank of a vehicle.

According to the report, a 25-year-old Mexican National female driver with two passengers attempted to make entry.

CBP officials said after questioning, the vehicle was sent for further inspection and that's when a narcotic detection dog swept the vehicle and alerted officers to the presence of a narcotic odor.

An X-ray scan was conducted and that's where officials found an issue with the fuel tank.

In all, 137 pounds of marijuana were seized by authorities.

The driver, who is from Chihuahua, was arrested and turned over to Immigration and Customs Enforcement HSI agents in connection with the failed smuggling attempt.

The passengers in the vehicle were later released.
