MIDLAND, TX (KWES) - Earlier this week TxDot officials noticed a crack in the pole holding the signal lights on the South Service Road in Midland. An issue that couldn't be left unattended.
Gene Powell, TxDot Public Information Officer, Odessa District said, "We didn't want to take any chances with something being cracked, so we took the light down to see if we can't find a replacement or make repairs."
Officials will investigate the light and service road to determine the cause of the crack. For now, the road will be a four way stop.
"When you drive the person on the right always has the right of way, proceed safely, take turns, be patient do all those things that you do at a place that's got four stop signs," said Powell.
TxDot says they are working to resolve the issue as quickly as they possibly can and they understand the frustration drivers may have.
"It's not a typical pole. These things are designed a certain way, fabricated a certain way and being able to have one especially built sometimes takes awhile. We apologize that we're changing the conditions again. It's just part of the price of improving our system," said Powell.
Officials urge drivers to plan ahead to avoid traffic and give yourself enough time to reach your destination.
