MIDLAND, TX (KWES) -

A Midland man is in jail accused of attacking his daughter and another person.

The two victims went to James Hazelton's apartment.

They found Hazelton on the couch armed with a chair leg that had nails sticking out of it.

One of them was his daughter, who was picking up her stuff, to move out of the home.

The second victim stayed outside until he heard noises coming from inside and feared for everyone's safety.

Both victims say Hazelton tried hitting them with the chair leg.

Finally, his daughter pepper sprayed him and they were able to get the weapon away from him.

A witness says Hazelton may have been coming off a methamphetamine high.

Officers arrested him for aggravated assault with a deadly weapon.

Police say while they were trying to book Hazelton, an officer found a pill that turned out to be a dangerous prescription drug.

An additional charge of prohibited substance in a correctional facility was filed against Hazelton.
