UTPB to get marching band in 2016

ODESSA, TX (KWES) - Not only will the University of Texas of the Permian Basin football team take the field for the first time this fall but the marching band will as well.

The college has had a band for the last 10 years but they haven't had a marching band.

Right now, about 40 students make up a wind ensemble but the Director of Bands, Clayton Harris, says he's still looking to recruit about 60 more members.

To get those students, the band will go on a tour February 1 to find high school students who would like to become a part of the falcon marching band.

"One of the things we do offer at UTPB is a very affordable education and a great value for your money. With the implementation of a marching program and the football team, it'll attract more students to our campus," said Harris.

If you'd like to learn more about becoming part of the UTPB marching band, call the university at 552-4296.
