BREWSTER COUNTY, TX (KWES) - A man remains in the hospital after an early morning shooting on Tuesday.
The Brewster County Sheriff's office says dispatch received a call about shots being fired around 2 a.m. just east of Alpine. A deputy responded and found that roommates, 22-year-old Trenton Rhodes and 21-year-old Vincent Martin, got into an argument that turned physical.
When Rhodes returned later on, he was shot in the arm.
Rhodes was taken to the hospital in Alpine and was later transported to Medical Center Hospital in Odessa. He underwent surgery and is in stable condition.
The sheriff's office says they will be investigating the shooting as a possible hate crime, but have not released any information as to why.
Rhodes is expected to be charged with aggravated assault causing bodily injury.
