ODESSA, TX (KWES) - Being accused of strangling his girlfriend then not letting her call for help landed an Odessa man in jail.
The victim says she got into an argument with 22-year-old Andres Orona-Alvarez.
He started punching her in the face, then choked her and punched her in the knee.
The victim was able to break free and tried to call police.
The report says Orona-Alvarez grabbed the phone from her and hung up.
He was charged with assault by strangulation and interfering with emergency request for assistance.
