ECTOR COUNTY, TX (KWES) - A Midland woman remained in the hospital Sunday night with injuries sustained in a crash the previous evening on Highway 80, near Newell Road.
Destiny Modahl said she was driving one of three vehicles involved in the accident, and broke two bones in her right forearm, in addition to three bones in her left foot.
Her Chevy Blazer struck a pick-up truck heading south on Newell Road around 8:15 p.m., she said.
The man behind the wheel of the truck was attempting to turn left onto Highway 80, according to Modahl.
"I had no time time to hit the brakes or go around him or anything," she said from her bed at Medical Center Hospital.
Odessa Police have not released the identities of the other drivers involved in the crash.
Authorities said they plan to issue citations for failure to yield right of way. Police could not confirm how many drivers would be cited.
"If you don't know if you can make [a turn], don't [attempt] it," Modahl advised.
Her husband and two-year-old son, both passengers in the SUV, were also injured in the accident.
Her son, however, suffered "surprisingly" minor injuries and did not require hospitalization, she said.
"My little boy looked at me and told me that he would fix me," said Modahl. "I don't know what I'd do without him. I'm just grateful that he's alive."
The incident remains under investigation.
