BIG SPRING, TX (KWES) - Two mechanics at Pollard Body Shop in Big Spring have been out of work since a burglary the day after Christmas. They broke a lock on a door to the shop, shimmied up onto the ceiling and attempted to scribble out a surveillance camera with a marker.
The manager says he got away with thousands of dollars worth of tools.
"They have taken someone's livelihood away. They have spent more time trying to find their tools than they have actually here at the shop" said Randy Carroll, Service Manager at Pollard Body Shop.
This all started on the night of December 26 when the burglar cleaned out both the mechanics tool boxes.
"They have collected over their lifetime thousands of dollars worth of tools," said Carroll.
The burglar stayed inside the business for hours leaving both mechanics trying to pick up the pieces.
"They pretty much cleaned out two of my technicians ability to be able to feed their family," said Carroll.
The manager says these types of tool are not cheap. The stolen property is estimated at $50,000.
Now after everything the two mechanics have been through, they all are just hoping the tools are returned.
"If anyone has purchased the tools, bring them by. No questions asked," said Carroll.
The case is currently being investigated by the Big Spring Police Department.
