MIDLAND COUNTY, TX (KWES) - One man is dead following an industrial accident in Midland County.

Authorities said 23-year-old Julian Gallardo was killed in the accident.

"We can't believe it," are the words a cousin of Gallardo said when NewsWest 9 reached out to her. According to Gallardo's Facebook he was a student at UTPB.

The call was received just after 10:30 a.m. Monday in the 2500 block of North County Road 1140.

Authorities said a chemical company, Water Rescue Services, was working on chemicals when a worker mixed certain chemicals causing an explosion.

Fire officials from Midland, Greenwood and the Northeast Fire Department responded to the scene.

Several residents in a nearby RV park were evacuated for several hours.

Nearby RV's and vehicles were also damaged in the fire.
