Odessa domestic dispute ends with 3 taken to the hospital

A father is getting the blame by Odessa police for going on a stabbing rampage. Police say he not only stabbed his wife and daughter, he also stabbed himself.

ODESSA, TX (KWES) - A father is getting the blame by Odessa police for going on a stabbing rampage. Police say he not only stabbed his wife and daughter, he also stabbed himself.

"If he could go out and stab his own daughter. Who else can he go out and stab?" said Brandi Tyson, a resident of Brittany Place Apartments.

Tensions were high among residents after finding out about the stabbing Thursday morning.

"I am a single mother of two kids. I stay at my apartment by myself. What am I supposed to do if a man gets mad at somebody else around here?" said Brandi Tyson.

Police say they responded around 8:30 a.m. after getting a report of a stab victim.

"Dispatch advised that he was involved in some kind of domestic dispute," said Cpl. Steve LeSueur of the Odessa Police Department.

The dispute led the father to stab his wife, his daughter and then himself. When police arrived on the scene, they found 50-year-old Jorge Sablan with stab wounds to his abdomen. They then found his daughter, 28-year-old Antonia Sablan, who had stab wounds in her chest and back.

"Both the 28-year-old daughter and 50-year-old father were transported to Medical Center Hospital with life threatening injuries," said LeSueur.

Initially, police were not made aware of the wife's injuries but Joaquina Sablan was later taken to the hospital, treated and released.

One resident says incidents like this happen far too often.

"I'm probably going to try and find a new apartment because the cops were called out here last (Wednesday) night too," said Tyson.

Antonia Sablan was treated and released from Medical Center Friday afternoon.

Jorge has been charged with two counts of aggravated assault with a deadly weapon and will be transported to the Ector County Law Enforcement Center upon his release from the hospital.
