Off-duty officer assists in arrest of drunk driver

Earlier this week, an off-duty Odessa police assisted in the arrest of drunk driver.

Off-duty officers told 38-year-old Stacy Walton Shannon to not try and drive himself home after they watched him stumble through the parking lot.

Shannon told them he was going to be getting a ride but then he climbed into a SUV and tried to take off.

Shannon hit a car in the parking lot on his way out and then ran from on-duty police when they attempted to pull him over.

He was quickly arrested and charged with evading in a motor vehicle, evading arrest and driving while intoxicated.
